World Oceans Day

To Eat Or Not To Eat
It is a myth to think that the ocens will always teem with fish. More than half of the world’s fisheries are in decline and sea fishing has been predicted to collapse by 2040
Eighty-five percent of sturgeons, one of the oldest families of fishes in existence, are overfished for their caluable roe, which are considered a delicacy. They are now at risk of extinction, making them the most threatened group of animals on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List of Threateed Species (www.iucn.ord).
Eat only sustainable seafood by looking out for the Marine Stewardship Council certification (www.msc.org) and WWF advisory (www.wwf.org). This helps relieve the pressure of overfishing, destructive harvest methods. extinction of species and even pollution of land and seas from culture methods.
In general, avoid buying or eating bluefin tuna, sturgeon black caviar, shark and whale. Some forms of seabass and trout should also be avoided, but that depends on where you live and how the catch of the day arrives at the market.

Dwindling Resources
With rising global population and affluence, the demands on natural resources are shooting sky high. By 2050, world food demand is forecast to rise by 110 percent. Even as the usable ares of arabla land is dwindling, industrial and agricultural demands are depleting groupwater-and contributing to the loss of soil nutrients. To provide for our expanding demand, both developed and emerging economies are intensifying production and industrialised agriculture, which is often powered by dirty fuel and uses preciusly virgin land.
So our consumtion is contributing to greenhouse gas emissions in a bigger way than before. As consumers, helping to reduce our carbon footprint, empower marginalised communities preserve healthy ecosystems and eat better is simple- all you need to do is shop green.
(DCM, June/July, 2010, pg107)
June 8 is Worlds Oceans Day. Supposingly i should post this yesterday, this two articles which i got from Disconvery Channel Magazine, a number one magazine ^^.Sorry that i was late. Alright, all the Earth’s citizens, we may not have any seafood to consume in the future if we do take everything for granted, grab the natural resources without concerning about the consequences. Hmmm… … humans should wake up now before it was too late.
